So I borrowed a preschool curriculum book from Farah, and I loved everything in the one called "Family". So we ended up doing too much. But we had so much fun! Take a look:
9:30, Opening circle: Good Morning song. Figure out what day it is. Introduce “F” as the letter of the week, let them know to bring something to share that starts with F for Wednesday. English word of the day: Ferocious (we all growled as loud as we could). Spanish word of the day: Familia. Color “F” page and trace “Ff”.
9:45, Creative Time:
11:15, Snack Time: Wash hands
11:45, Science time: Feely Box, Show children the various household items, then place the items in the feely box. Have children try to identify what they are touching without looking.
12:00, Exercise: Mother, May I?
One child is chosen to be “mother”. “Mother” gives commands such as “take two big steps,” “take one step backward.” Children who forget to ask “Mother, May I?” must return to the start. Darius loved this game and wanted to keep playing it. After we were done with closing circle time he and Lorien played it all by themselves.
12:15, Reading: Space Case by Edward Marshall, pics by James Marshall and Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me, by Eric Carle and Fish is Fish by Leo Lionni.
12:30, Closing circle time: Sing To the tune of “This is the way”
This is the way we jump up and down, jump up and down, jump up and down, this is the way we jump up and down so early in the morning. We can also do, stand on tiptoes, stand on one foot, jump to the side, hop on two feet, reach to the sky, wash our hands, brush our teeth, eat or breakfast, brush our hair, put on our clothes.
My Family
Tune of “Ten Little Indians”
Are there two or three or four in a family? Five or six or more in a family? I’m in a family, you’re in a family, Families are all different, Some have fathers, some have mothers, some have sisters, some have brothers, Some have cousins, some have others, Families are all different.
Remind the kids to bring Show and tell item that starts with “F”. Darius and Lorien both picked up the family song really easily. It was lots of fun.
